DEPARTMENT OF RADIOLOGY

The Department of Radiology is one of the oldest departments established under the School of Medicine and has long been providing imaging and academic services to the community in and around Gondar, Ethiopia.  The Department is staffed with 7 full time Radiologists, adequate number of radiology technicians/technologists and admin staffs.

The Department is currently equipped with 2CT scans (64 slice Philips brilliance and 4 slice GE bright speed scanners), one 1.5T Philips MRI, 6 mid and high end ultrasound and 2 DR machines and carries out an estimated annual volume of 100,000 studies per year. To improve the imaging service and facilitate communication installation of a PACS system is currently underway in partnership with RAD-AID international.

In the Academic front, the Department of Radiology runs one of the most sought after Radiology residency program in the country. The program was launched in 2013 G.C. and it has so far graduated 7 batches of radiologists. There are currently a total of 23 residents across the academic years. Furthermore, the department aspires to launch multiple fellowship programs and would like to express its openness for partners who would be interested to engage in this particular endeavor.
